Alexandru Ecovoiu (b. 1943) made his literary debut in the 1980s, but first really came to the attention of the reviewers in 1995, with the publication of his novel Saludos (Prize of the Union of Romanian Writers, 1996; nominated for the LiterArt XXI Prize, U.S.A., 1997; Observator magazine Prize, Munich, 1998). Confirmation of his talent came in 1997, when he published the novel The Resort (Romanian Academy Prize). In 2001, he published The Three Mozart Children (nominated for the ASPRO Prize), and in 2002, the novel Sigma (Prize of the Bucharest Writers Association). Polirom has published his Saludos (2004, 2014), Order (2005), Sigma (2nd edition, 2005), The Resort (2nd edition, 2007), The Three Mozart Children (2nd edition, 2008), After Sodom (2012; Book of the Year Prize, awarded by the Bucharest Branch of the Union of Romanian Writers; Best Writer of 2012, awarded by the Union of Romanian Writers Prose Club), and Ambitus (2018).
