Doina Rusti

Doina Rusti is one of the most appreciated female voices in contemporary Romanian literature. Translated into nine languages, the guest of numerous international book fairs and events, she has gained renown for the thematic diversity of her solidly constructed novels, most of which have been published by Polirom. They include Zogru (2006, 2013), republished in the Top 10+ series, The Ghost in the Mill (2008), a wide-ranging novel about the communist period in Romania, which was awarded the Union of Writers Prize for Prose, Lizoanca at Age Eleven (2009), which won the Romanian Academy’s Ion Creanga Prize, The Fiancée (2017), and Homeric (2019). Doina Rusti lives in Bucharest and is a university professor and scriptwriter.
